S.A.V.E. is a student driven organization. Students learn about alternatives to violence and practice what they learn through school and community service projects. As they participate in S.A.V.E. activities, students learn conflict management and mediation skills and the virtues of good citizenship, civility, and nonviolence. S.A.V.E. Objectives S.A.V.E. Objectives at Holy Cross Students Against Violence Everywhere (S.A.V.E) promotes nonviolence and safe school and communities by educating and enlisting them and their parents in activities to reduce the violent behaviors that threaten our youth. S.A.V.E. at Holy Cross operates as an extracurricular activity. Some suggested S.A.V.E activities already exist as a part of the regular school day. Members of S.A.V.E will support the existing activities in the classroom, schoolwide and community events aimed at making our schools safer environments for children and young people. S.A.V.E activities integrate knowledge and skills from the religion, social studies, language arts, science, mathematics, arts and guidance curricula while they deliver the message of nonviolence and conflict management. The S.A.V.E. Curriculum promotes
student and school safety, help students learn how to avoid places
and situations where violence is likely to occur and teach students
conflict management and mediation skills to better dean with confrontations
and violence. As students learn these important skills and behaviors,
they practice intellectual and social skills important to their individual
success in school and as citizens.
