Families Helping Families
Description of Program:
Arrange to provide families with meals
whenever there is a need, such as illness, death, or birth.
Major Responsibilities:
- Get a list of Room Parents from school office (see
Kathy Rucci)
- Make sure Room Parent is aware of Families Helping
Families. Inform Room Parent that when a situation occurs where
Families Helping Families can be of assistance, to notify chairperson
- Get a volunteer list from the spring volunteer
registration from PSA President. Chairperson calls volunteers
from this list.
- Sort the list of volunteers by homerooms so that
when FHF is called, it may be possible to ask volunteers from
the classes where the family has children.
- Respond to a request for help by acting as a liaison
to the family, to determine their needs, i.e., how many meals,
nights, etc. It is important to verify that the family is receptive
to help.
- Schedule the meals, being sure to get details such
as number in family, dietary needs, etc. Make calendar of whom
& when dinner will be delivered and forward to family
General Responsibilities:
- Attend all monthly PSA meetings prepared to report
on your program or function. If unable to attend, call the supervising
vice-president with your report.
- Keep track of all time spent fulfilling your duties.
- Know the budget of your program, and stay within
that budget. Submit revenues and expenditures to the Treasurer
on a timely basis.
- Vote on measures placed before the PSA General
Membership.
- Maintain current records of your job duties and
the materials important to your program.
- Transfer all records to your successor on a timely
basis.
- As a norm, when volunteering during school hours,
volunteers should not bring small children. Guidelines found in
the Parent-Student Handbook under "Visitors" (pg. 15) apply.
